Spring and summer are the perfect month to showcase such shades and come rain or shine, you will certainly work to brighten up any one’e day!

Mint appears to be the shade of the day and the likes of suits, cutesy slip dresses and also an array of tea dresses have all been seen marching down the runway!

The high street stores, designer boutiques and department venues are already filled to the brim with summer styles! Bikinis, travel essentials, chic luggage, wedge print sandals and statement kaftans are just a few of pieces on display!

However in order to wear any one of the above items, you may need to reconsider your location!

BBQ’s and beach dates in the rain are no fun whatsoever! However lieing back on a sun lounger in a boutique hotel is the perfect setting for your new wardrobe! Just don’t forget to pack your sunnies!

Summer holidays have to be the easiest holidays to pack for! All you really require is a few statement bikinis, a summer dress, an array of maxis and an on trend kaftan! Other additions to your already bulging suitcase may include the likes of an iPod, a pair of wedges, some detangling hair serum and plenty of hot hued eye shadows!

Summer is certainly the one time of year we can add a much needed hit of colour to our wardrobes! Shade of the moment include burnt oranges, vivid reds and azure blues.

Any of the above shades will guarantee to give your current wardrobe an instant injection of colour!

The key is to experiment, don’t be afraid to venture outside of your usual colour palette. You will certainly turn a few heads if you do!

Even if the sun doesn’t shine, at least you will!

Those that are lucky enough to have a holiday date in the diary will be spoilt for choice when it comes to packing for the event!

Sing tank in 5

Music’s coolest family has to be Singtank! They are new on the block but despite this, they are already known for their super style!

The brother and sister duo are originally from France and Josephine de La Baume is proving to be the girl we all envy!

Not only is she one half of a super fresh band, she is also tres chic! Her style is a little eclectic at the best of times, this look certainly seems to work on the fresh faced beauty however!

She was recently seen sporting a particularly enviable Zac Posen blazer, clashing shirt and leggings combo and super high Charlotte Olympia heels! The above statement may give you an insight into what the French-born singer likes to cavort!

Their music is described as Indie Pop. She’s behind the lyrics and he writes the music…the perfect brother and sister combo!

The videos are extremely cool and one of the recent releases showcased an Alice in Wonderland-esq theme! We have a feeling Josephine enjoyed dressing up in the outfits for this particular music vid!

Despite claiming to being a little on the polite and quiet side, the brother and sister band already have a firm following of fans. Such groupies include the likes of Pete Doherty and Kate Moss.

The supermodel even acknowledged them as the next big thing!

One thing is for sure, the pair certainly don’t require any help in the wardrobe department! Both of the talented individuals in fact style themselves on a regular basis, both pre show, during show and after show party!

Despite the great reviews they have had on both fashion blogging sites and through style councils, neither claim to be anything special! Both of the duo operate a ‘get up and go’ attitude. They simply throw anything and everything together and it somehow manages to work!

Red carpet ready

Do you have a huge event on the cards?  Maybe it’s your graduation party, your school prom, your University ball or a wedding do.  Whatever the occasion, you will need to make sure that you have a great outfit at the ready!

The key to this is organisation.  Without such a skill, you will end up rushing around on the day or evening of the do, frantically trying to pull an amazing outfit out of the bag!  Unless you have a wardrobe bigger than Madonna’s, you probably won’t have much luck.

Make getting ready for this special occasion an equally special one.  Take your time and spend the week prior to the event prepping.  Chill out at a spa with your friends and get the professionals to pamper you to perfection.  Have your nails, hair and make-up done on the morning of the event and you won’t end up smudging a rushed do.

The dress of course is an extremely important factor.  You will need to choose this in advance in order to know what shoes, jewellery and bag to team with the number in question.

All of these little things add up to make the big picture, which will in turn make you look like a million dollars!

Take a little style inspiration from the red carpet awards, it is after all awards season.  The red carpet is therefore awash with stunning attire worn by equally stunning starlets.

Now all that is left to do is find a date and dress him as equally tempting clobber as you!  They will act as your accessory too, so they need to match!

Remember to pack your bag carefully; the last thing you want to be teaming your elegant dress with is a bulging bag.  All you really need is the lipstick, a comp and maybe a little blush in order to create a few touch-ups now and again.

If you wish to continue the French look, invest in a few new make -up pieces such as a glossy stain lip stain from Yves St Laurent or any one of the products from Lancôme, both designers are as chic as each other!

If you are planning on dressing your baby in an equally chic style, look to baby Dior.  The designer has created a to die for, cutesy style, toile print dress, which can be picked up for a total of £130.

Step into spring

Spring is certainly in the air and because of this season change; we feel that it is most definitely time to freshen up our pre-season wardrobes.

Think sleek tailoring as seen at Vivienne Westwood and spring-like hues as seen at Acne.  The new season is most certainly here and it is fresh, desirable and vibrant!  It is certainly a trend worth looking into if you wish to add a little injection of colour to your current wardrobe.

Other designers to watch out for include the likes of Alexander McQueen and of course Paul Smith.

It isn’t just our wardrobes that require sprucing up!  It is also the guys in our life that need a little help!  Things to invest in for the male in your life include the likes of a A.P.C designer traditional wax hunting jacket, a Vivienne Westwood Tommy Nutter Jacket and an Adversary fleece jacket from Barbour.

Your man will thank you dearly for any one of the above pieces.  You will also look super cool stood next to him.

Accessories to invest in include the likes of Marc by Marc Jacobs Retro Sunglasses, from £109.  A Hugo Boss Chronograph Watch, which will cost you £325 and a Vivienne Westwood weekender back at a price of £765.

The weekender bag is a must-have for the spring season, especially if you have any weekends away in the country planned.  It is the perfect shade, size and style and will fit everything you need in comfortably!

It will also make you look like the ultimate stylista!  The pastel colours are very much in this season and the stylish Vivienne logo will mean others may envy you!

It’s a water world

20.02.2012

The spring collections have released a surge of water inspired designs onto the runway.  Ocean depths in fact surged throughout an assortment of the spring collections on offer!

Think pixelated tropical fish printed across taffeta cocktail dresses, this was certainly the cases on the runway of Mary Katrantzou.

Another designer that has taken the water world to new levels comes in the shape of Versace.  The big name label showcased sugary seahorses, scallop shells and starfish.  All of the above embellishments were seen adorning Versace’s Neoprene biker jackets and teeny tailored shorts.

Givenchy introduced gilded shark teeth medallions to the mix, which were displayed as if they were trophies!

Chanel as always concentrated deeply on the accessories and worked a conch-shell clutch into the spring collections.  Karl Lagerfeld is never one to leave the signature Chanel pearls out and worked these into model’s slick hair.  The underwater accessories looked as if they had come direct from a treasure chest!

Giorgio Armani opted for an enchanting feel and allowed models to dive onto the stage in a variety of sea goddess designed dresses.

Peter Pilotto’s flouncing skirts were trimmed with waves, just as were Stella McCartney’s ultramarine slip dresses.

All in all the feel of the entire spring show was very romantic indeed!

In order to keep the hair and make-up in with such styles, wear the locks loose and wavy.  Use the Little Mermaid for inspiration.  Keep jewellery minimalistic and add an edge to the outfit with a spiked belt, cinched in at the waist.

Pearls and delicate trinkets are the jewellery option of choice and shoes should be kept fairy tale like in order to match the rest of the outfit.

Colours seen on the runways were very muted as if the sea had almost washed out the fabric.  Think lavender and white hues with a touch of crème in the shape of a shell.

Heavy metal make-up

20.02.2012
09:24

It may seem unusual for a spring trend but heavy metal eyes were in this season and were definitely proving to be a big hit at the new season shows.

Giorgio Armani, 3.1 Philip Lim, Just Cavalli and Holly Fulton all sported this hot trend at their new season spring runway events.

Fendi went for a gold leaf-esqu look whilst Rodarte opted for a shimmering navy shadow.  DSquared2 and Ashish were two designer houses that really caused a stir and created a statement with a little uber show-stopping glitter!

In fact there was barely a smoky eyed model in sight that hadn’t had a lashing of glitter thrown at them!

If you think this trend is a little too much for the spring look, opt for a subtle pink shimmer as seen on the models at John Galliano.  If you are however feeling a little daring, choose a smudged MAC metal-x crème style shadow.  This nifty little product is in fact proving to be one of this season’s must-have beauty buys.

Emilio Pucci really took the stakes a little higher and worked a definite all around shine!

Of course to finish great eyes off, you will need to define them with a little liner and lashings of mascara in order to create an enviable impact.  Quick as a Lash from Guerlain is another must-buy beauty product for the new season.

This hotly anticipated product has finally hit the beauty counters and is set to be a sell out!  The Noir G is the advancement on Guerlain’s Rouge G lip shades.  It not only boasts to be a great eye enhancing beauty product, it also boasts to come encased in some equally stylish packaging.  Think of a James Bond style flip up mirror and you have the Noir G.

Not only is it super stylish, it is also super eco friendly!  The new ranges of mascaras are in fact refillable.  The mascaras are priced at £35 initially but the refills come in at just £19.

A dress for every occasion

30.01.2012
09:28

If there’s one item of clothing that women come back to again and it again, it is the dress.

The versatility of the dress has long appealed to fashionistas and is an ever-prominent item on the catwalk, regardless of the season. This January the high street offers a variety of styles and textures to keep you warm – our favourites are chunky knits in ashy colours teamed with opaque tights and finished with knee socks boasting embellishments of all kinds, including ribbons, buttons and embroidery.

With the mass of choice out there, we thought we would create a guide for those who just can’t decide what dress to wear for what occasion!

First date:

Arguably one of the most important outfits you’ll ever choose and we would always recommend the little black dress, accessorised to reflect the season. Try to choose something that leans on the sultry side, rather than office chic or night club hot.

Dinner with the family:

Meeting your other half’s family for the first time is worrying enough as it is, without having to decide on what is and isn’t appropriate to wear. We have the answer for you:

In warm weather a fail-safe option is the floral maxi dress, teamed with a loose knit cardigan or crotchet shawl. In Winter the 60’s cotton dress is a great choice – knee length, loose and classic. The dress can be worn with shoe-boots and wool tights. See the current collection from Chelsea Girl at River Island.

Weddings:

Winter weddings always pose a problem when it comes to outfits. The cold weather begs chunky clothes, warm coats and floppy, snuggly hats – none of which are particularly suitable for someone’s special day. The solution comes in the form of layers and a clever mix of textures. Try a floor length dress, layered with a silk floaty shirt (and a vests underneath), finished with a cropped fur jacket. For the older lady, mother of the bride dresses can be found at http://www.kaleidoscope.co.uk.
