It’s a water world

The spring collections have released a surge of water inspired designs onto the runway.  Ocean depths in fact surged throughout an assortment of the spring collections on offer!

Think pixelated tropical fish printed across taffeta cocktail dresses, this was certainly the cases on the runway of Mary Katrantzou.

Another designer that has taken the water world to new levels comes in the shape of Versace.  The big name label showcased sugary seahorses, scallop shells and starfish.  All of the above embellishments were seen adorning Versace’s Neoprene biker jackets and teeny tailored shorts.

Givenchy introduced gilded shark teeth medallions to the mix, which were displayed as if they were trophies!

Chanel as always concentrated deeply on the accessories and worked a conch-shell clutch into the spring collections.  Karl Lagerfeld is never one to leave the signature Chanel pearls out and worked these into model’s slick hair.  The underwater accessories looked as if they had come direct from a treasure chest!

Giorgio Armani opted for an enchanting feel and allowed models to dive onto the stage in a variety of sea goddess designed dresses.

Peter Pilotto’s flouncing skirts were trimmed with waves, just as were Stella McCartney’s ultramarine slip dresses.

All in all the feel of the entire spring show was very romantic indeed!

In order to keep the hair and make-up in with such styles, wear the locks loose and wavy.  Use the Little Mermaid for inspiration.  Keep jewellery minimalistic and add an edge to the outfit with a spiked belt, cinched in at the waist.

Pearls and delicate trinkets are the jewellery option of choice and shoes should be kept fairy tale like in order to match the rest of the outfit.

Colours seen on the runways were very muted as if the sea had almost washed out the fabric.  Think lavender and white hues with a touch of crème in the shape of a shell.

Heavy metal make-up

It may seem unusual for a spring trend but heavy metal eyes were in this season and were definitely proving to be a big hit at the new season shows.

Giorgio Armani, 3.1 Philip Lim, Just Cavalli and Holly Fulton all sported this hot trend at their new season spring runway events.

Fendi went for a gold leaf-esqu look whilst Rodarte opted for a shimmering navy shadow.  DSquared2 and Ashish were two designer houses that really caused a stir and created a statement with a little uber show-stopping glitter!

In fact there was barely a smoky eyed model in sight that hadn’t had a lashing of glitter thrown at them!

If you think this trend is a little too much for the spring look, opt for a subtle pink shimmer as seen on the models at John Galliano.  If you are however feeling a little daring, choose a smudged MAC metal-x crème style shadow.  This nifty little product is in fact proving to be one of this season’s must-have beauty buys.

Emilio Pucci really took the stakes a little higher and worked a definite all around shine!

Of course to finish great eyes off, you will need to define them with a little liner and lashings of mascara in order to create an enviable impact.  Quick as a Lash from Guerlain is another must-buy beauty product for the new season.

This hotly anticipated product has finally hit the beauty counters and is set to be a sell out!  The Noir G is the advancement on Guerlain’s Rouge G lip shades.  It not only boasts to be a great eye enhancing beauty product, it also boasts to come encased in some equally stylish packaging.  Think of a James Bond style flip up mirror and you have the Noir G.

Not only is it super stylish, it is also super eco friendly!  The new ranges of mascaras are in fact refillable.  The mascaras are priced at £35 initially but the refills come in at just £19.
