It’s a water world
The spring collections have released a surge of water inspired designs onto the runway. Ocean depths in fact surged throughout an assortment of the spring collections on offer!
Think pixelated tropical fish printed across taffeta cocktail dresses, this was certainly the cases on the runway of Mary Katrantzou.
Another designer that has taken the water world to new levels comes in the shape of Versace. The big name label showcased sugary seahorses, scallop shells and starfish. All of the above embellishments were seen adorning Versace’s Neoprene biker jackets and teeny tailored shorts.
Givenchy introduced gilded shark teeth medallions to the mix, which were displayed as if they were trophies!
Chanel as always concentrated deeply on the accessories and worked a conch-shell clutch into the spring collections. Karl Lagerfeld is never one to leave the signature Chanel pearls out and worked these into model’s slick hair. The underwater accessories looked as if they had come direct from a treasure chest!
Giorgio Armani opted for an enchanting feel and allowed models to dive onto the stage in a variety of sea goddess designed dresses.
Peter Pilotto’s flouncing skirts were trimmed with waves, just as were Stella McCartney’s ultramarine slip dresses.
All in all the feel of the entire spring show was very romantic indeed!
In order to keep the hair and make-up in with such styles, wear the locks loose and wavy. Use the Little Mermaid for inspiration. Keep jewellery minimalistic and add an edge to the outfit with a spiked belt, cinched in at the waist.
Pearls and delicate trinkets are the jewellery option of choice and shoes should be kept fairy tale like in order to match the rest of the outfit.
Colours seen on the runways were very muted as if the sea had almost washed out the fabric. Think lavender and white hues with a touch of crème in the shape of a shell.
