The preppy sheek look is back and it is most definitely a great look for Christmas.  Think cute knee-high socks, knitted tights, boyfriend cardigans, designer backpacks and an assortment of must-have jackets!

The high street brand Zara has recently released a super signature look for winter in the shape of a neat parka jacket.  It’s boxy shape will most definitely look super svelte with all those preppy pleats and loafers.

Priced at just £99, it is certainly in your winter coat budget!  Well at least if you only intend to purchase the one this season!

Loafers are a great look for this season and tie into the preppy trend extremely well.  not only do they update the look and bring it into this season, they are super comfy to walk in!

Choose from a range of styles, this season certainly seems to be working the animal print style!  Such a print will work to bring an otherwise low-key preppy look to life!  And if you are actually still in uniform, you will become the bell of the playground in no time!

Another great way to work the preppy look into ideal winter wear is to invest in a pair of cutesy boy trousers such as chinos with braces.  Wear with ballet pumps to add a girly edge, a cute simple tee complete with a quirky illustration and a fitted blazer.  This will tie the whole look together!

The preppy look is a great look for daytime with the girls, a study date or a chilled early evening meal.  It can however be dressed up with uber high heels and a fitted waistcoat in an embellished fabric. Pile your hair high on your head and party the night away!

If you are a little shy when it comes to statement lip colour, then you will be happy to learn of the all-new lip colour trend that has just arrived this season.

The trendsetters behind some of this season’s hottest new beauty looks have come up with a subtler paired-down alternative to that of the usual brighter than bright lips!

The inspiration for the new lip shade has been taken from the hoard of fresh-faced and uber stylish socialites, who are often seen at an array of fashion shows!

So how do we re-create this look?  Well the answer is quite simple!  Simply smudge a little red on your lips, as if a trace of something you have previously been sipping is left on there!

Use a product such as a runaway red lip shade and apply as a smudge effect to the lips.  Create this effect using a small tapered blending brush.  A good one can be picked up from an assortment of beauty counters for under £20.

This type of brush is usually used with eye shadow products but also works a dream when creating this effect on the lips.

It creates a feather effect that doesn’t look to finished.  Finish your lips with a lashing of clear lip balm.  This is a great look for both day and night and can be created with a range of different shades.  Simply choose your favourite colour and apply using the above procedure for that ‘it’ girl look!

Check out any one of the autumn and winter shows for a little cosmetic style and inspiration!

A dramatic smokey eye is the must-have party accessory and since an assortment of Christmas parties are likely to be on the agenda, you will do well to learn the ropes!

Creating the perfect party eyes is a skill and in order to do it yourself at home, here are a few simple tips!

Firstly you need to transform that subtle eye into a dramatic statement eye!  There is an all new super shock collection and this particular make-up is a must!

Firstly you should apply a creamy eyeshadow along the upper lash line, this should then be blended upwards.  Dot a lighter shade on the inner lid

The lighter shade will work to bring your eyes to life and really open them up! Adding a little definition is the next stage.

Definition can be made by apply product to the lower lash line.  This can be done by using a gel eyeliner and a brush.  This should stay close to the edge of the eye.

Next you will need to vamp it up a notch!  Do this by blending a hot hued eyeshadow across the lid.  add a little black gel eyeliner and lashing of volumising mascara!

This is certainly a look that will have heads turning

The Winter Jumpsuit

A lot of trends for winter 2011 have carried over from summer, and jumpsuits are no exception. They do save a bit of time in the morning, since they’re a ready made outfit, but quite why they have become so popular is, frankly, a total mystery. They’re stupidly inconvenient when you have to use the bathroom, they’re pretty unflattering if you don’t have a body like a coathanger and they make you look like you’ve either just escaped from a harem or the local psych ward. Lovely.

Still, popular they are and they’re everywhere this winter. There are loads of places both on the high street and online that cannot get enough of them and if you’re a dedicated follower of fashion, you will have no problem finding one.

For work, go for a wide leg style in a more muted colour and accessorise with heels and a fitted jacket for an elegant and professional look. Just remember to excuse yourself five minutes early from that meeting to use the ladies room. Accidents at work indeed.

On more casual days, harem style jumpsuits with chunky jewellery and flat ballet pumps will ensure you’re comfortable if nothing else. If you don’t have too much to drink. Try a bold colour to make you stand out from the crowd, or the oh-so-popular floral print for that ‘just shot the curtains’ look.

Jumpsuits can be worn for evenings too and to be fair, some do look quite elegant and classy. A straight leg, one shoulder style looks great with a pretty belt to cinch in the waist and simple jewellery at the throat, ears and wrists. Classic black always looks fantastic but there are many colours and materials available if you want to be a little more daring. Shop around and see what catches your eye!

You can accessorise your jumpsuit or playsuit by visiting Ellos where they have some gorgeous heels, ballet pumps and jewellery online.

The Towie girls are proving to be a big hit this season and their designer wardrobes are much cavorted, especially when it comes to style that is a little more fun and in your face!  Lydia Bright, Lucy Mecklenburgh and Jessica are just a few of the girls from the hit TV reality show and all love to dress to impress!

When you have boys like Joeey Essex on set you really don’t need to question why!

Lydia is possibly more of a vintage queen and likes to pair eclectic attire with statement shows, barbie blonde locks and of course post box red nails.  She often finishes her look with a cutesy bag and hardly any jewellery.  Her trade mark red lips are what really pulls each outfit together!

Lydia also often sports a 70′s vibe and often teams floaty dresses with heels, a clutch and statement floppy hats!

Jessica on the other hand is a little more glam and is also the aspiring singer of the show.  She is certainly very feminine and takes a lot of effort when it comes to dressing for an occasion.

Lucy is a little more retro and teams laid-back tees with the likes of over the top feather skirts.  This is in order to create a wow factor look that screams ‘look at me!’.

Any one of the girls style would fit nicely into our wardrobes, at least now we have the inspiration, we have an excuse to go shopping!

Fashions are constantly changing, which is why we have help here!

The fashion agenda this season has supplied us with an assortment of must-have clobber.  These come in the shape of schoolboy styles, arts and crafts, brights, glitter, ladylike, gold, goth, outdoors, shearling and chanel!

All of the above are set to be big for the autumn and winter trend agenda.  If you are lucky enough to invest in items from each then go for it.  However if you can only stretch to a few, opt for the much-loved essential clobber.

Chanel esq comes in the shape of sophisticated styles, such as clutch bags, leather sandal style stilettos, cotton and leather cinched in waists.  These make up the perfect office items.

The best bit they are dressy enough to take you out after the office.

Shearling is a great winter essential and comes in the form of hats, gloves and fur trimmed wedges with laces.  Outdoors features a pair of leather boots, a woolen scarf, and a woolen hat.  Goth is an edgy look that comes in the shape of crystal rings, faux-leather handbags, and tough killer stilettos!

Gold is a little more stylish in terms of glam-esq!  Think metal bracelets, metal clutch bags and metallic shoes.

Eclectic chic

This season is sporting an eclectic take on style, especially when regarding a few of the designer’s popping up at A-list events and Fashion Week.

Proenza Schouler is one such creator and has taken his version of eclectic chic to the maximum!  His attire revelaed a reconstructed take on the original up-town chic and certainly had colour!  This is a great addition to the many minimalistic designers on the runway as it offers a very different style to another fashion market.

His pieces certainly cause a statement and will have the attention of the whole street!  There were an assortment of other designers to work the eclectic card.

Think 70′s tailored sportswear, flouncy materials and statement  deep colourful hues!  Tight tops and flouncy skirts were also big and a white blouse tucked into a statement and colourful skirt, created in a flouncy bouncy material was a must and created the perfect contrast to the crisp upper half of the shirt!

Patterns, textures and blocks of bright hues made up a playful chic look that is perfect for a summers day or a trip abroad!

Modern takes on classics such as old English materials were teamed with shoes created in exactly the same fabrics at Chris Benz.  This season is certainly loving eclectic just as much as it is sporting minimal chic.  This is great news as both compliment each other!

The main event

Dressing for an event is always exciting and getting that all important outfit right is a must!  If you have a wedding to attend why not invest in a few sheriff hats and headpieces or a simply fabulous dress with matching cropped jacket.

These outfits will not only work for a wedding event but also a gallery opening, a cruise, a ladies day or a race day.  They are a fail safe option as you don’t have to choose anything other than a killer pair of shoes and a bag to go with them!

Dresses tend to come in two sizes, either longer length, short or mid-length.  The event in question usually determines the length of the dress.  For example if you intend to attend a day at the races, you won’t want to work a floor skimming gown as it is most likely to get ruined on the day!  A mid length or shorter creation however will be perfect!

Jewellery and accessories are just as important as an outfit as they tend to be the things that will either pull the whole piece together or over do the look.  It is therefore important you get such items to match the outfit perfectly!

A fitted piece is a great way to enhance assets and curves should be flaunted if you have them!  Peach, coral, greys, greens and creams are all great colours for a daytime event as they will never seem to much or look over the top and such colours will also compliment an assortment of skin tones!

Now you have an outfit sorted, you just need an invitation to an event!

So many dresses

This season isn’t about the skirt, nor is about the tee or the trousers, it’s all about an individual piece!  This piece comes in the shape of the dress, not only is it easy to slip into, the only other things you need to decide on include heels and a cute clutch!

A dress can be dressed up or dressed down, worn in winter and worn in the summer.  Simply add opaques and a cardigan for a cooler day and sandals and shades on a warmer day!

There were also an assortment of magical vintage style gowns on the runway, which looked like they had been found in a secret trunk in the attic.

There were also a few sweet yet glitzy gowns on the catwalk and all were the perfect attire for an evening of cocktails with the girls, not to snazzy but not too subtle either!

Looking for a dress that offers sheer drama, look no further than Posen!  The designer has really pushed the boat out!  This is a dress that the stars will be fighting for on the red carpet!

Calvin Klein are the design house to look to if you wish to create a subtle style that screams sophistication.  whilst the others have gone over the top and embellished, this designer has walked the opposite direction in a low-key fashion!

When you are searching for the perfect cocktail dress, look no further than a Gucci creation in emerald green.  This isn’t just a dress but more like an exotic bird that has wrapped itself around the torso.
